  • National Pork Producers Council President Don Butler returned to Washington to plead the producer's case before a congressional Ag Subcommittee.
  • Major topics:
    • Urge the U.S. Department of Agriculture to make more purchases of pork for various federal food assistance programs.
    • Pressure U.S. trading partners, particularly China and Russia, to eliminate their barriers to U.S. pork imports.
    • Conduct a study of the economic impact on the livestock industry of an expansion of corn-ethanol production and usage.

Let's just ask for a bail out like General Motors and the Banks. Gov't Mandated "CORN GAS" is the biggest factor and their poor handling of "SWINE FLUE" by not calling it by it's proper name. I see our elected officials in Washington on TV calling it swine flue and not H1N1. After all, with all the money they are pissing away in Washington, what's a few million per hog farmer. I For one have just about had it. Anyone else out there have the same symptoms ?
