SwineCast 0424, WAF - Thoughts on Sustainability

SwineCast 0424 Show Notes:

  • Gene Kahn, V.P. of Sustainability at General Mills and commercial farmer shares his thoughts from the 2009 World Agricultural Forum on our obligations toward society and our clients, as well as trust, accountability, and ownership of problems and solutions.

Are attributes of sustainable food products viable and measurable or are they disputable, unapparent, and of little concern to the consumer?

Agriculture has unknowingly become the key player in sequestering carbon in the reduction of greenhouse gases, yet our benefits remain invisible. Kahn encourages us to evaluate the business opportunities and to recognize our position as the great hope for our environmental footprint.
