Swine Truck Washing Requires Stronger Process

Swine Truck Wash Study and PEDvHeat and Behavior Change Required Dr. Butch Baker, Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, shares the results of research on trucks used to haul pigs and how their cleaning protocols impact the spread of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDv). Dr. Baker's key messages: Trucks need to be cleaned well and the people involved must be more rigorous. Also, truck washing facilities need to be prepared to support stricter protocols: the payoff is a reduction of herd infections.
