How Do We Answer Questions About PEDv?

Modeling Emerging Disease in the US Swine HerdMath Models Help Understand PEDv Dr. Shweta Bansal, Assistant Professor, Department of Biology at Georgetown University, provides an assessment of how mathematical modeling is used in understanding emerging swine diseases. Dr. Bansal digs into the data and assumptions used to produce a model to help answer questions about PEDv. Specifically, Dr. Bansal's team analyzed the role of movement in PEDv spread and provide an estimation of likely PEDv sources. Dr. Bansal closes with how these mathematical models can be used to highlight hot spot issues and allow organizations to better focus resources to solve disease spread issues.
